TEIN Super Street Damper kit
TEIN Super Street Damper kit
Is anyone familiar with the Tein super street this kit? I ordered it last week and will be doing the install on Friday. I am trying to make the car feel a little tighter at high speeds and get rid of some wheel gap. After talking with another Evo owner today he said that it may make the handling of the car worse.
Anyone with Coil-Overs think that they were better off stock? Should I return the Tein suspension and just try a roll bar for the rear instead? What should I expect to see from this system?

Coil-Overs are new to me. I have always just gone with separate springs and dampers for my previous cars. Also others were saying that the FLEX system was too stiff. I thought this might be a good compromise.
And yes I do like to be “told what to do” from some that has done it before. That way I do not make the same mistakes they me have made.

Also the SS is not the lowest model the Basic Damper is the lowest. I get the same 16 way adjustability as the FLEX with softer springs. One this I do not get is the Upper pillow mounts.
Is it that important to have them?

I hear ya
Why not just get some lowering springs and keep the stock shocks if you dont want coilovers and a stiff setup? This way you can retain the stock comfort(ya right) and have the car lowered. If I was going to swap dampers/shocks I would just get a set of coilovers knowing its going to be stiffer than stock but gives me more adjustablity in the long run. I really think you should give it a shot

I am just a little worried about making the handling worse then stock. One thing I don’t want to lose is the predictability of the stock suspension. On a hard corner you can tell when you are about to loose grip with the stock setup.
I was only planning on dropping the car 1 inch in the front and .5 in the rear. I know that I could drop a lot more then that but I do not want to run into a lot of ground clearance issues. Will the coil-over still perform well if I don’t do a big 2 inch drop?
I don't think the car will handle worse than stock after the coilover install. TEIN put a lot of R&D on their products. It is engineered to perform. The most you have to worry about is get your car properly aligned after the coilover install. If you can find someone near your area that does "Corner Weigh and Balance" on cars, that'd be help maximize the cornering ability of your car as well.
I’m going to go for it. I will be doing the install tomorrow night and I have an appointment for an alignment at Archer Racing for Friday. I will also post pics.
After speaking with Tein I will go with a 2.1” drop in the front and .9” for the rear as per their recommendation. Also does anyone have any alignment recommendations? I was thinking of -1.5 front camber and -.5 rear with 0 toe F/R.
