I would Deff go with nothing wider than a 255 for Tracking on a 9.5" wheel. R compounds are normally wider than typical street tires. I would say that the BFG R1's in a 255 are almost a 275 Street tire. My Friend bought a Set of 275 R1's and they where like as wide if not wider than 295 street tires They where going on a 10.5' wide wheel too. He and I both like the 255 wide R1 for both are Evos. We both run a 10.5" wide wheel too and the tire has a slightly stretched side wall which is good for racing it makes the side wall Stiffer and gives the car a more solid feel instead of having more roll in a tire that is not stretched oh and on another not. Wider Tire isn't always better. When we went on my buddies car from the 275 to the 255 the car felt better and we cut about 1.5 or maybe more I think off are lap times

Sounds like good advice. Thanks. After pricing out some options it seems like the nitto nt01 may be the best bang for the buck. Does anyone know if these run wide as well?

All R-compounds run a little wider but the NT-01s fit nicely on the stock 8" wheels.

I think the NT01s are an excellent choice. I loved them.

The 255/40 fit perfect on a 9" wheel. Here's a pic with about 150 street miles on them. Btw, I think there's a set in the FS forums new for $500 (no not me).

back from the dead?

im in the same boat. I did my research, and i narrowed it down to Hoosier R6 and Nitto Nt01.
which one do you guys recommend? i have been running Z1 Star specs and i have to say, they are great tires all around
I asked around on track, and corvette guys swear by the R6 (having better grip than the R1.) but again, the other half recommend the NT01.
I will be putting these on RPF-1 18s. I am still thinking of getting rid of the 18 and go 17, weight, tire cost.. yada yada.

and before anyone says Kumho, did the research, and decided not to go with the V700/10

thanks

Right now, its looking like I'll be getting the NT01s for my next season. R6s are just too much money, and I am not really worried about the slight differences between characteristics for HPDE events.

I have R888s and found they don't grip a whole lot better than the Star Specs I was running prior. Also, after 3 days on track, I think I'll be lucky to get another 3-4 full days out of them.

I'm probably going to go to NT01s as well. I've heard nothing but great things.

Aren't you sponsored by Good Year? How come you don't run their tires?

Yep, they don't make an r-comp for the public, not even I can get them. Closest tire for me is the Z1*. But I am past that level of tire for my events.
