Need Help Rotor Install
So I got myself a set of new Stoptech Stock Replacement Slotted Rotors and when i put the first one on the car, I noticed that the studs didn't stick out like the stock rotors. Seems like these rotors will only work with extended studs? Does anybody who installed these rotors know what I'm talking about? With the stock studs, once i put these rotors on, there is no way I'll be able to bolt the wheel back on.
I do not have an Evo but have done many brake jobs including big brake kits on WRX's and Civic's. Anyways take a dial caliper (if you have one) and measure the thickness of the rotor by the axle bolt hole on both the stock and the new rotors. If they are different then yes extended studs may be a necessity for the correct install, fitment and lug torque or problems may occur. If they are the same then call the manufacturer to see if first you have the right rotors and second if there is anything thats need to be modified for the install. The manufacturer should also be able to tell you if extended studs are needed for a correct intsall of the new rotors seeing as you may not have a dial caliper (I don't think a micrometer will fit in the axle nut hole on the rotor). If extended studs are needed there easy to pound out with a hammer and a c-clamp will do the job to press them back in, but make sure they are straight before you start pressing. You most likely also need to get different lugs, those that are open, do to the long length of extended studs. Hope that helps -Travis
