Fender Rolling

Im looking to get a set of the Rota Grids 18x9.5 +20 with a 245/35/18. and im pretty much thinking i need to roll my rears. The body shop that im looking to go to charges $175 a corner, but cant gaurantee not to crack the paint. So that would be another $300-$400 to fix. Anyone have problems with paint craking from doing this?

If you use a heat gun on the fender while you roll it, it will help prevent cracking and chipping.

BTW im lowered 1" in the back and i run 255 35 R18 on 18 x 9.0 with no fender rolling needed; so i think you might be ok with a bit of camber. Mine never rub even on the hardest corners and u turns.

I roll fenders quite often and I don't blame them for not gauranteeing to not crack the paint. I rolled the owners EVO MR here and it still got a little bit of cracking int he paint. You really can't expect to almost fold a piece of metal in half without getting a paint stress crack. Not to mention if you get a small crack and hit it with a rolling tire, that paint isn't going to hold of fast.

My best advice is to keep someone next to you with a heat gun and constantly apply light heat. You want the paint to be soft but you do not want it to be so soft that it will almost turn into liquid. Not to mention it will eat away at the fender roller wheel.

Sounds ok i. I just wasnt sure if it was normal to crack or not. so i guess it could range from $300 to $700 if it does crack.(to fix the cracks)

The owners evo is 9.5" wheel and he rubs with a set of Swift Spec R's we had shipped in. (Shamelss plug)

If your anything over an inch your looking at rubbing time.

+1 and taking time rather than rushing. If the shop can't guarntee against damage I'd try to find another shop that does it.

I think i will try to find a different shop. its just one of those deals that i dont know any bidy shops by first name basis so i have a tendency not to trust them. ahha. or i could just try it myself if needed.

YA, but you don't mention wheel offset. The OP is running a 20mm offset.

Yes, the Grids are +20 which is probably why they say i will need to roll my fenders.
