Info on 17's

Need a little help here. I'm interested in the possibility of fitting 17's to my X for rallycross. (18" tires suck.) Front brakes are no longer a problem as I've installed the smaller AMS/Wilwood front brake kit. But when I went to try on rally wheels, I found the rear brakes will also need modification. Even 16's wouldn't clear the calipers.

So I'm wondering if 17's will. This will just be temporary until I can mod the rears. First, perhaps someone can educate me on OE 17" Evo wheels. Are there differences I need to know about between the various years?

And if someone will help out here...I need a couple of dimensions from a stock 8 or 9 wheel. If you take a 12" steel rule (like from a machinists square) and hold it against the hub surface of the wheel, slide it up until it hits the inside of the rim. I need the distance from the inside rim to the center of the wheel. (Yeah, that's a hole, but many of you know how to take measurements.) That will determine fit of the top center of the caliper.

Second, I need to know if the top corner of the caliper fits. (Where I had trouble with the 16's as the dropcenter fouled the corner of the caliper.) That will be one inch outboard of the hub surface, so just stick a tape measure 1" out from the previous ruler and see how far down the ruler you have to go to get the tape out 1". That won't be clear to everybody, but some of you have probably done this before. I'm checking the inside radius of the wheel at the hub surface, and again 1" outboard from the hub surface.

Thanx for any help, Bill
