okay....well guys i have a odd clicking sound on my car when making a right turn.
i know what you guys are thinking, its an obvious answer, but it doesnt quite sound like the common clicking problem with the boot. and i actually personally checked and had a mechanic check it....nothing is wrong with the axle/boot.

I recently installed a HKS hipower exhaust on it, could this be the problem??? the previous owner said it scratches with the driveshaft. is this possible?

thanks guys!

Get the Evo on jack stands, all four corners, turn on car, and steer wheels to the right. Visually inspect the under-body for "clicking" noise. I doubt the exhaust is rubbing but it won't hurt to check. Nice to see another 626'er here, I roll in my LY 8.

Appears to be a bad axle by your description.

If its a clearance issue then you probably wont be able to find it when you put it on jackstands and take the load off the car. get a friend to turn the car slowly while you CAREFULLY peak around with a flashilight and good set of ears. Look for signs of rubbing in moving parts. Could maybe be something simple like a fenderwell panel rubbing.

the clearance issue was not it....we checked....
so thats ruled out

there are 2 things that my friend says looks weird and wanted me to check with u guys to see if its normal

1. the bushings feel soft and hollow, and look worn
2. the brown metal piece behind the rotor is bent....he thinks it might be rubbing on something.

anyone know anything about this?

I had a clicking noise because my coilovers rubbed on the abs line connector (holder that mounted to the inner fender). Also check ALL of the major suspension bolts. I have seen quite a few loosen over time.

The brown metal piece sounds like the brake dust cover. You can remove it and see if the sound goes away, but this could lead to more dirt and debris getting into important places.

heres a long shot. Have you recently had your wheels balanced? I have seen wheel weights improperly placed and they start rubbing on the caliper, maybe yours only when turning, idk.

If it is the brake dust cover, you may just need to bend it a little, or hose it down, there may be a little bit of gravel caught there or something.

I hate to say this--you got good info up frt and that would be the Axle CV joint. This is common on all front drive cars so it holds true for awd as well. If your making a turn and it "clicks " most certainly its the cv joint. Replace the axle and your done. Yes they wear out without the boots breaking.
