Compomotive wheels

Does anyone have any experience with Compomotive wheels ?
The ProRally EVO runs them and the one piece forged race wheel that the Rally Car uses (17 x 8) runs $370 per wheel. That seems very reasonable to me.

I'm actually going up to the Lake Superior Pro Rally tonight. I'm helping a pro rally team that runs a 1st gen Eclipse in PGT. We're staying in the same hotel as the Mitsubishi factory team. I know they're using Compomotives at this event and I was hoping to talk to them to see if I can get the specs on the wheels and see if a 16" Compomotive fits the street cars. Its the last rally of the year, maybe I can snag some extra wheels they don't want. Hey, its worth a try. -Erik Hutchins

The rally cars actually use smaller diameter AP Racing brakes with 15x7 Compomotive wheels. nuts. -Erik

There was an STi at the Wash DC autocross yesterday with 17x7.5 Compomotive wheels and Hoosiers. I think he ended up winning AS, but I'm not sure. I don't know if they will work for us, but the STi certainly has the same type of big caliper concerns that we do...

The Compomotive wheels have insane brake clearance. I had a friend that had 15" Compomotives on his WRX. Those and the Speedlines are the only 15s I know that fit those cars. Looking at the brakes on the EVO I'm betting some 16" Compomotives would fit. 17"s definitely. -Erik

hueman: I guess it depends what you're looking for.

http://www.usacomp.com/

They all look heavy to me, except the CXR... which still weighs almost 1 lb. more than an Enkei RPF1 and costs around $125 more.

if you are not going to Rally your EVO, these wheels are not for you. Compo wheels are very popular among rallyx racers because of their price and durability in horrid driving conditions. most of these wheels in 18x8's over 20lbs per wheel.

Thats pretty much why I want them. I'm gonna have to get some smaller brakes to fit 15s if I want to run real rally tires. -Erik

These are tough old school rims! They come in 13's or 15's sizes.
