progressive sway and perrin links....
Just installed a rear sway from progressive and perrin links...
Measured 26mm with the caliper and is a lot heavier than stock. Here is a pic of the stock versus the new one:

here are some pics of install... pretty straight forward except for the fact that twisting the sway into place is creative- like a puzzle! Easier if you remove the cat back or lower it at least:

Finally the Perrin links... easy to install and seem a whole lot better than the flimsy stock links...

End result of these two parts are that the handling of my evo is significantly changed- more neutral with a touch of power oversteer. Got completely sideways and it felt very solid and... neutral with the drift. I entered a turn at 5k and was able to completely modulate the drift with the throttle... let off the boost and it just tracked with no push. FYI, I am at the middle setting on the sway bar.
Between the custom lower brace, perrin links, azenis sport 245's and this sway, I am getting somewhere in actually improving the handling of this amazing car.
I cannot wait for nov when i get 2 days at willow!
Cudos for Rich for ablely assisting on the install. Thank you very much...
RRE supplied the sway and did an excellent job showing me the bar on their car and taking time to answer my questions.
I was going to go with the cusco or perrin but progressive is local, quality and RRE had it in stock... It seems like the beefiest sway available so far. It is powder coated with its own urathane bushing, brackets and clear instructions! It is clearly a cut above.

Did you take the tire off for pictures only? I installed my sway bar without taking it off and without removing my exhuast since mine is custom made hence it is all welded on. It was a ***** to get on, but took around 1 hr to get on with the end links
install...
I can't comment on other installs but the directions said with the progressive, it is necessary to undo the control arm and tire...
We tried to do it without doing this for a good hour and finally took out the directions. Even so it took a while before we got it in... this one has it's own mount and bushing which are different than stock.
It is 5 lugs on the tire and 2 bolts for the arm... much easier removed in any case.

Yeah, that was a fun install, no Mark? Taking one tire off and dropping one arm is good enough to get the job done. When we install mine it will be a lot faster as we learned a lot on this one. The new mounts and perrin endlinks are soooo much better than stock. Sway bar is way beefier as well, makes the Evo's handling completely nuetral now...the front does not push at all under power. This sway lends very well to right foot steering, and I can imagine that at the track, it will become much more apparent. I can't wait to get min in and test it out when we go in November!!

30 min? Damn, must not have been pushing it lol!!! J/K But seriously, the Advans have phenomenal grip in the beginnings of each cycle, but after about 5-6 laps they start to get very slick, but they still slide very progressively I have found. I can't wait to get the michelin Pilot sport cups on the track. Back to the sway, I'm very interested in seeing how it behaves in the setting it was meant for. From what I see on the street it nuetralizes the handling on throttle, so it'll interesting to see how it does when I don't have to worry about cops/pedestrians/slow traffic and potholes!!!
they make a whole bunch of stuff: http://www.roadcatalogs.com/store/progressauto.html Just call over to RRE and they can tell you what is good for the evo...
Hope that helps,

Thanks for the info, I have been debating on a rear sway bar with the stock suspension. I have heard lots of negative theory regarding the inside tire lifting (which it already does with the stock suspension) but all good things from everyone that has actually used them. Your post just pushed me over the edge.
I checked the RRE website and tried calling, can you tell us how much this bar costs? I have also been trying to get the Perrin end links from a local distributor for some time now, if RRE has them in stock I am ready with cash in hand!
BTW I saw your quick post regarding the Azenis, can you provide some more/updated info? In particular how is the turn in response? are the side walls as stiff as the A046's? How are they wearing especially after track usage? Some pics of them mounted on the stock rims would be greatly apriciated.
Looking at your install pics I could not help wondering where your jack stands were?
I have had a hydraluic jack fail all of a sudden and some times they just slip so.... be careful.
Thanks again,
Eric

LOL about the jack stands SILVER SURFER!!! Yeah, I kinda...uh...forgot them at home when I went over there. The guy has sooooo many freaken tools/welders/the kitchen sink that I didn't worry about it. I spent most of the time under the car, so I don't think Mark was too worried LOL. J/K Mark. The jack is an all aluminum race jack, pretty sturdy, when you wanna have parts installed you just do it right? And if Mark doesn't mind I can answer some of the questions. The Azenis haven't been tracked yet, but they've done several canyon runs, and they still look brand new. It's actually hard to believe without seeing them. The compound was re-engineered from the last version of the Azenis, they are more of an enduro tire now. The grip seems to be a lot better than stock, that may be a function of the wider contact patch. Turn in feels slower, but still great, once again wider contact patch. We'll be at SOW 11/8 11/9 and 11/11...WOO 3 days almost conescutively!!! I'm interested in seeing how the new compound holds up on the track, as previous iterations of the Azenis were great for autoX, but tended to melt after hard laping on a circuit. My guess is that they'll hold up a lot better. Side walls are very stiff, yes.
tires and jack stands and sways...
silver... RRE doesn't open till 12:00 noon so you won't get a hold of them in the am. regarding the price for the progressive sway... 150.00 or 170 if i recall. Regarding the tires... rich got it pretty good great tires and very stiff sidewalls ran 70 miles on angeles crest and the tires were hot but held great not greasy
Yes to using jack stands in the future...

Please update us after your track weekend. RRE called me back $150 and they have plenty in stock, I went ahead and ordered one.
Yea, I had a car fall on me a long time ago, luckily I was not seriously hurt, it was quite a wake up call though. So you might say I am a little more conscientious of that little safety tip.
