Wheel Spacer Question...
Wheel Spacer Question...
i used to have a set of volk time attack wheels with kics 15mm spacers, everything fit fine. I just bought a set of work wheels and they will not fit with my spacers since the oem studs stick out in the kics spacers and the work wheels are just a 5 bolt pattern, with my volks they worked since the volks had additional holes in the lug pattern area. seems like my only choice is to run the H&R spacers with the extended studs. my question is if its safe to run them? is there any danger replacing the oem studs with extended studs? and finally, are there any other options that i can do in order for them to fit? appreciate the help!
As I see it you have two options:
- If you don't plan on taking the spacers off you can cut down your stock lugs so that they don't stick out past the spacer. Your new wheels should sit flush but you won't be able to run without the spacer until you replace your studs.
- You can run extended studs with a slip-on spacer instead of the bolt-on, some people prefer it this way. If you're going this route though you should make sure you get good quality studs such as ARP

I read in Vorshlag's X MR build thread that the ARP studs are 22mm longer than stock. I'm not sure if the X studs are the same length as the VIII/IX, but if they are, then you'd be fine with up to a say 25mm spacer IMO.
thanks for the info, i need to find out about the evo8/9 studs as i plan on running either 15mm or 20mm spacers.
