Lower Braces

OK, I've done a good bit of searching in this forum for info on which lower braces work well but provide some extra clearance for aftermarket downpipes. This is one of the few subjects that doesn't seem to have a lot of info on this board.

I've got an 06 Evo IX with a Megan 3" DP (new style for ACD, no flex coupling). Best I can tell from scanning search posts, the RMR underbrace is the only one folks have indicated really has much extra clearance over OEM. My OEM one is buzzing making me nuts

What about the Tanabe? Cusco? Works? etc. What have you guys tried that works with 3" DP's?

We should really have this info in a sticky since it is something I'm sure most Evo owners have run into.

Carbing!

Ties the control arms together and also ties them to the chassis. My eBay non-ACD fits on my IX and my friends fits with his Buschur, plenty of room to spare.

I'm the friend with that rusty POS Buschur downpipe pictured above LOL
The Carbing 6-point lower arm bar is definitely a quality piece and if it clears the Buschur downpipe w/o spacers it should clear anything else.

that carbing looks like a nice piece. I had to remove the stock ones when I installed my RMR dp. Did you actually notice any difference with the carbing over the stock pieces?

I noticed immediately that the chassis was stiffer when I pulled out of my driveway for the first time. The transition from my driveway to the street is steep and abrupt and the car felt like it didn't flex when coming down, didn't make the regular 'creaking' noise either. As for regular driving, I think it feels a little tighter and maybe slightly more responsive to steering inputs.

That's a nice looking unit! Truth be told, the RMR unit design looks marginal (one reason for this thread) but that thing looks solid.

Good info.

My thoughts exactly which is why I lost interest in it and went with the Carbing. The RMR isn't braced that well and there are a lot of potential flex points in its design. Besides Carbing, the only other aftermarket companies I trust when it comes to chassis bracing is Beatrush and Cusco.

Also worth mentioning is the OEM Mitsu RS trunk bar too as long as we're on the chassis bracing topic:

I haven't had any issues with Cusco bracing and my 3" downpipe. That Carbing piece is awful purdy though.
