Rotas as track wheels

I wanna purchase a set of wheels just to throw a set of r comps on for the track. Have you guys had any luck with using rota wheels if not what other cheap wheels have you found work well for the track.

Rotas should be fine. There's even a vendor on here who tracks with them. Import tuner did an article about using these and they held up, but there were some who had indeed cracked a few.

I've never heard of cracked Rota wheels that were tracked. Did they hit a wall?

I know several people that have cracked them. And not just with track use. I cracked a Rota Boost on a previous car completely off the rim and vowed never to cheap-out on rims again. And no, I didn't hit anything crazy - just skidded sideways and I guess it gave away under the extra 'g' force.

I think the design of the cast wheel was really the issue - Boosts. As I know lotsa people run these, so to each his own! G/L.

I'm running Rotas on my car as a DD wheel. Next year I plan to buy some actual Volks...put decent street tires on them and put R compounds on the Rotas

How much do they weigh in comparison to the stock Evo wheels or other commonly used track wheels? Wheel weight is pretty important (lighter is better). Plus, there's the issue of durability. I don't know much about Rotas but I'm inclined to think that wheels as cheap as them probably won't hold up to the usual track day abuse.
