Rusty lug nuts?

I just picked up a set of winter wheels and tires only 2 months ago. The wheels are aluminum. I took a close look at them this morning and the lugs have surface rust all over them. I thought it was strange because even though I live in a pretty wet area my summer wheel lugs weren't very rusty at all.

I didn't bang them up putting them on or anything. They've only had a socket put on them once so far, didn't even use an impact. They're a gorilla locking lug kit that came with the wheels. It seems to be a good chrome coating on it. If I put some elbow grease into it and wipe the rust off it does come off, but it doesn't look good and I don't feel like cleaning them all the time.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has fought this issue before and maybe came up with a good solution they could share?
