Helper springs question

I have a question reguarding coilover helper spring, and mostly location. My Robispec KW's have front and rear helper springs. The rears are located below the main spring, and the fronts are located on top of the main spring. Is there any certain reason for that configuration?

The only reason I ask is because I would like to run some dust boots and with the helper springs on the top, it could cause the coupler perch between the two sets of springs to rub on the boot.

Any negative effects to running the helpers on the bottom of the main springs up front?
