My Star Specs failed
My Star Specs failed
I'm running stock alignment, stock suspension, stock size, and 35PSI cold. I was also fastest street tire car (second in a row and on these tires) so it's kinda love-hate at this point. I've been getting a lot of flack sense this is a pretty well liked tire. I agree more pressure and camber would help but It's ALL STOCK and it failed. I don't think I'll get them again unless I have some camber plates.
You can see where they were rolling a little far but that was only over one large bump. 100% of the rest of the time they were not rolling past the line at the outside end of the tread.
Also this could just be a fluke. The other 3 are fine. (I've also had NT555's on the car with the same alignment and they went to zero tread and didn't do that)

This is very common and not just for star specs. My group had a late late fall lapping day and 50% of the fast cars that ran street tires ended up shredding them quite similar to that.
You're tire looks pretty bald to begin with, I think any tire would have failed at that point. However I have these same tires and run 36 psi cold and have noticed them to rollover also. Even with -3.8 camber.
They have a few MM's left to the ware bars. The flash makes it weird. Look at the bit in normal lighting under the car.
The more I read about people's similar experiences they say they have the same thing happen with several different tires.
The only OTHER set of tires I've had on this car are the NT555's... Maybe I got lucky with them.
Here is a pic that shows how much tread was left when they died.

woah man. I run those tires religiously. Did u just do the event at the waterpark? u can get 2 degrees negative up front with the stock eccentric bolts... trust me, do an alignment and try again, the tires will not disappoint you

Agreed with everyone here. More camber. You were rolling over the shoulders in turns. I went through 2 sets of these on my Evo with -1.8 front and -1.4 rear camber.
I have not but they died on the first run of the second heat. Probably an hour sense their last run. I know I work them hard. I do well out there but I plow through a corner now and then when something goes wrong, probably 2 times each event... who doesnt?
I'm looking at camber plates right now becuase i really DO like the tire a lot.

Yeah, I don't think it is the tire. I beat the snot outta these tires last summer in very high temps (1st day rain - 2nd day hot and sunny and me too lazy to bring my R compounds)
It's hard to see the wear makers on the side -- how far past the markers were you showing?

i just had the exact same problem took my car to the miller track last weekend on my practice runs everything felt great then in the timed runs i noticed that one of my star specs was worn through the tread on the outside and then didnt grip near as good the rest of the day took sixth but i felt my practice runs were faster im about to order some azenis 615s i go back to the track in two weeks
