blown strut mount?

lately since the weather has been warming up ive been noticing a creaking/popping sound coming from the front drivers side of the car. I have a lift at work so ive thrown the car on the lift to check the cv joint and what not and cannot find anything that would be causing this sound. ive searchedand found that people have had these symptoms due to a blown strut mount. the car is lowered on tein s tech springs and stock struts. i live in the country and i drive on the gravel lots. so my question has anyone here had this happen and does anyone know how to check for a blown strut mount ill throw my car up on the lift and check today again

You can keep the car on the ground and push down on the front end to sort of bounce the car and you should be able to replicate the noise that you are talking about if it is indeed a blown strut mount. It sort of makes a shimmy kinda noise.

That sounds like it would be yes. When you get the strut assembly apart you should be able to tell indefinitely also.

Yea, a coilover assembly would come with the strut mounts on them.

Check for cracks in the tops of the mounts, mine did the same thing. Replaced them with the oem ones and was fine.

yah i also searched and i could only figure out that it was a strut mount not how to actually diagnose the problem but im pretty confident that this is the problem so hopefully after i install the coilovers it will go away

If you have a bad strut you will see fluid seeping out where the shaft comes out of the strut assembly. If a mount is bad it will make a rattling noise as I stated above. To be able to check the bearings you will have to take the strut assembly off because it is all bolted together.
