Front Pillowball mounts? Sources?
Front Pillowball mounts? Sources?
Here is the situation, I will be using a custom upper camber plate, and am looking for basically the bottom half of a traditional camber plate... The part that holds the pillowball itself.
I am not sure where to try to source this from, thus far no manufacturer will separate and sell it by itself; which, though annoying I do understand their position. Are there any thoughts of where to source something like this from? Whether it is complete or not? Tein seems to be a common one, though no one seems to carry these in stock. I'd also be curious if any vender/user were to have a set used they would sell. I didn't post this in the "WTB" area, as there will be information needed through this process, not just a 'buy & done' scenario.
The second part of this that will be necessary is that I will be using these with PSS9 coilovers, and (they are on their way to me) I know their top nut is larger than the common coilover size, POSSIBLY? The same as OEM? I keep hearing it may be a 14mm x 1.5 nut, as opposed to the more common coilovers that use 12mm. So whatever brand of pillowball/plate, I'll need either the nut with the sleeve (to size the shaft to the pillow ball ID) or source them separately.
Any help/suggestions on where to look (that I haven't already)? And/or who to talk to that may be able to get this project rolling? Thanks in advance, and help keep this on topic.
Just another 'bit' of information. From what I also understand, since I'll just be utilizing the pillowball & carrier at the bottom of a camber plate, this MAY NOT need to be specific to the evo, as long as the pillowball ID is similar, it could be for any other application, since the upper camber plate (that mounts to the chassis) will be custom and separate anyway.
Again THANK YOU for quality replies/information on this.

Try GTWorx.com - Andrew might have a good solution for you here.
KMax also makes a camber set. Why a custom top plate?
Do not know on the PSS9s size.

Thanks Smike, I've PM'd Andrew @ GTWorx, awaiting response.
I was just looking at the Ksport page, trying to save cost, since again I don't need the top plate, I'll check out KMax as well.
This plate will have an incredible amount of camber & caster adjustment, compared to the norm in the market... Not that I'll need -6 camber.... but it'll be possible, the caster is the 'cooler' part of the plate.

I'd avoid something like a K Sport or similar cheap crap pillowbal.....they'll wear out and make noise and generally suck pretty fast.
The bearing is arguably the most important part of the top mount.
