Front Left Suspension Noise
Front Left Suspension Noise
Guys, I am hearing a slight knock coming from the front left suspension when I drive on rough or bummpy roads. Any ideas as to what component might be the cause?? Can the swivel mount on the top of the shock be a likely culprit?
There is also a possibility that it could be your half shaft on that side. I recently noticed a noise on my friends Alero on the right side similar to what you are talking about, which I assumed to be a suspension problem. I put it on the lift and didn't find any suspension problems, but did find excessive play where the half shaft slides into the tranny. It is being replaced today. Certainly wouldn't rule that out.
I noticed noise coming from my front-left suspension as well. It is more noticeable when I'm making a 90 degree right turn at 20-30mph. It's been very windy and cold for the past few days up in the MA/NH areas, so I didn't get a chance to put the car up to look for anything obvious.
I remember reading a post somewhere about the dealer forgetting to take out some shipping plastic parts that are stuck at the top of the springs which could make noises when the springs compress and also cause a rougher ride.
