MYth of the Front Sway Bar???
MYth of the Front Sway Bar???
Bought the Cusco 25 mm front sway bar and front sway bar end link brackets.
I found after I ordered that it actually hinders handling in such a sense that the front inner tire while conering comes off the ground. (bad for handling)
Is this true or just a myth? Anybody have this bar installed??
Mods to Date suspension wise:
Relocated batt to the trunk
23 MM rear sway( set on the middle setting
Perrin End links
RMR Lower tie Bar
Cusco Traingle rear strut bar
Tein Flex( 12/12)
Home made trunk bar(havent tested it out yet)
Potenza So3 245/40/17
If I get the front sway bar would it help to increase the back stiffness on the coil overs?? Would this solve the problem of the front being too stiff with a bigger sway bar?

We've installed it - and it works very well if the rest of the car is setup properly. Turn in increases dramtically with it (most of the cas we have done it on have stock wheels and tires and moderate pressures). I have only run the rear bar on the max setting so far, and have not used the brackets (which I think are worthless personally). How do you have your Tein's setup? What tire pressure do you run?
Our tests indicate at this time that the stock anti-roll bars on the Evo VIII are stiff enough that I do not recommend changing them to stiffer ones; with the exception adjustable ones just to be able to fine tune handling characteristics.
I have not used the front/rear bars you have. But since you upgraded the rear already, a front upgrade must happen in my opinion.
Will the inner front lift-off the ground? Well, even with the stock bars the inner rear lifts off, so with that one off, the front also coming off is unlikely but probable. If you do get them in the air, you might want to set a higher damping setting on the fronts. Unfortunately, you have the Flex suspension, hence you cannot adjust the rebound independently.
If this does not work, you will have to go to higher rate springs. How much higher will depend on how the car performs with the combination A/R bars you have. If you go beyond 50-60 lbs higher on the springs, then the Flex will have to be revalved. At that point you would be better off getting RAs or JICs.
Good luck.

It is my pleasure. If you don't mind, would you please let me know (ft@selgp.com) of your observations following Dec. 13. And if you can come up with a nice write-up of it, I certainly can put it up on our web site www.selgp.com.
I think several other people would be interested in this information, and certainly myself
Thank you.
