Oddball suspension questions thread

Hey guys,

(Intro)
So I love how my (new to me) 03 evo handles. I would like to install some Swift Sport springs to rid myself of wheel gap, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the performance of my suspension in any way. This car handles amazingly and I don't want to impact it negatively.
I have been doing a lot of research today and from what I found, basically installing the Roll Center Kit will fix the suspension's geometry.
After that, the next major issue is fixing the shock travel. I think I have a fix for that with custom top hats, but I'll post back on details there once I get my hands on it.

Anyway, I'd like to use this thread to post random questions that I bump into.

I was just looking over the stock suspension and found that there is a rubber spacer spanning 3 coils on each front spring (I didn't look at the rear - 11:30 at night outside).
What is the purpose of this? Another "bump stop" of sorts to help prevent the shock from bottoming out?

I'll keep this thread updated for whatever misc suspension questions that I run into that can't be searched.

Thanks,

Tommy
