I just trashed a wheel

So there I was, just past midnight. I had a friend with me and I decided to drift a turn. Well, the road was not as wide as I thought, and I smashed the rear wheel into the curb. The thing that amazed me was the abuse the car took and it seems ok, other than the wheel. Half of the wheel is........not happy.
The car still tracks straight and brakes in a straight line with my hands off the wheel. I checked for any fluids or wierd noices and it seems fine. I am going to get the alignment checked later this week. Very strong car.
The thing that upsets me, is that it happened. It was kind of embarrassing. I know it could have been worse, but it still happened. I guess I should have been careful on a full moon with a lunar eclipse. Things were just aligned against me.
If anyone has a spare wheel, please PM me.
If anyone can suggest cheap 17 inch wheels, that would be great. I know I could get some nice expensive wheels, but I do not have 2500 buck to throw out now. I really did not plan to smack that curb, I know, we never plan that stuff. I would like to find some wheels like the Evo 7, very nice, but I have not seen them. And the look alikes, are 17 by 7.5 inches.

Anyways, curbs suck

Look at my wheel! I screwed one up too.

This is the result of a hard left gone wrong. There was a huge pothole in the edge of the street. My right rear got hammered. I'm just trying to decide what to do about it. It rides perfectly, no vibrations and holds air. I'm thinking of buying a new one but the dealer wants 603.00 plus tax for one. Next option is ebay for a used. Only guy there would only sell a complete set. I was thinking of using this bent one for a spare so I don't screw up my difs in case of a flat. I haven't compared size of the spare donut tire to the regular wheel but I think it has a smaller diameter. Any suggestions?

Thanks MP5. That is exactly what the service manager said at Mitsu and he gave me a phone number. He said it would cost about 200 bucks and that they would probably have to remove the blue enkei sticker when resurfacing it. My question is this: Would it be just as strong as stock?

Well the general logic just like getting a tyre patch is no, But I have known plenty of guys to get 800+ supra rims/ Rx7 rims ect redone without any problem- Would I not be thinking about it on the track? No I would be but on the street I think its a option at 1/3 the price- Contact Rota wheels and suggest an interest in their wheels for the evo Im trying to get as many people as possible sot hey will make them- Good quality for cheap

That is too bad about the dent in your wheel smogrunner. I guess I lucked out. My wheel is straight. Just has road rash along half of the lip.
I have had a few friends get wheels repaired and have good luck with them. I think that the Evo wheel will hold up. Yes, the wheel has be compromised, and bending it back will weaken it more, but it should be fine.

I held the spare up next to the stock A046 tire/wheel when I was changing tires at an autocross next month. The difference in diameter is very little -- probably within the range where you could equalize them exactly (if it were important to you and you could measure accurately) just by playing with tire pressures. I personally would just put the spare tire on and drive it home slowly, which is what most of us would probably do.

Also note that the spare tire well in the trunk won't hold a 235/45R17 tire without it sticking up out of the well quite a bit. It might cut down on your usable trunk space, if that matters to you.

JBrennen, thanks for the input on the spare. I've haven't yet had a good enough reason to do what you did and just check. I still wouldn't mind have a full size extra if I was going on a long off road/rough road trip in backcountry, but I plan on just getting it straightened. I don't want to spend any extra $ on wheels if not necessary.

Just get it straightened. Should cost around $100, NOT $200. Refinishing is usually included in the price at the larger places. You could have the whole set powdercoated a custom color and get the one straighted for around $450. Certainly better than $600 for 1 new wheel from the dealer.

Thanks all. I'm getting it straightened now. It will cost $130, and will take one day. The cool Enkei sticker will be gone however.
