Too many cars involved with too many vague symptoms.....In the end I think this is going to come down to big wheels and wide tires being balanced on balance machines good enough for other cars and almost good enough for our cars.

I had a problem like this and it was rotor. Put the car on a lift pull tires off and rotate rotor and if you hit a tight spot its the rotor.

They have nothing to do with it, I'm fairly certain about that. For the record I don't know anyone who has taken those off and all my friends run a 3" dp.
I agree and I still have mine on but my friend is a soon to be mechanic at a mitsu dealer. He just came from a subie dealer. He turned over to the dark side lol. I would think he would know more about the car then most people I know since he works on that particular car.

I have the same problem, my Mitsu dealer diagnosed it to be a bent rim. Which is common, but I just read through the thread and nobody mentioned it. So I figured I'd throw that in there too.

What was this about the hub rings? Can this cause steering wheel wobble at 70mph?

It might be hub centric rings or possibly a stuffed driveshaft. Have you gotten a proper diagnosis from a mechanic yet?

Lately I took off front rotors and drove without them. Still shaking, so it's not rotors. Since its not tie rods, not bearings, not ball joints, not wheels, not tires, not bushings, not rotors and not steering wheel (tight, no play), then I don't know. I am out of ideas what might cause it.

got to be them cheap aftermarket wheels. It's nothing to do with the people that balanced it. I balanced my car 5 times with different shop, still shake. Stay out of them cheap wheels. Put new front rotors & pads help too. If your evo are 2005, suspension parts are fine , no problem. Just try on different wheels and see.

Only use hudcentric wheels. You do not want to use wheel that require hub rings. And stay away from wheel spacer too

I guess you didn't read whole thread. I swapped the rims (Konig) for stock (Enkei) ones, because I have two sets (rims+tires). That didn't solve the problems. Still shaking.

well sometimes stock enkei shake too. I had 18" rota on, no more shaking. Not all wheels are perfect, stock wheel might shake too bro.
