From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
255/40/17 should not touch the struts. My r-comps where 255/40/17, Swift SpecRs, -2.5 camber.

IX is same as VIII.

Ideal size is not the 255/40/17 for DD. Its heavier, slower to respond in turn-in.

I have 255/45-17 General Tire exclaims on whatever wheels come with a 2004 VIII.

No rubbing in suspension parts but had to do some mild modification to the left forward plastic area where it rubbed on tight turns.

As far as looks I personally like it, I also prefer the ride.

Not bad on dry and wet tarmac. These tires came with the car when I got it. I haven't ran it at the track yet but the previous owner ran a 11.67 and a 1.63 60' time that was when the car had 388awhp so I should do a little better now...

Good info in this thread. I have 255/40/17 on my car and it's pretty close to the spring perch so I thought I probably couldn't go any higher. A 26" tall tire would be great for snow tires this season, like a 225 or 235/50/17.

I'm running 255/40/17 Nitto NT-05s on the stock Evo 8 rims. I'm lowered on H&R race springs and I have no issues with rubbing, turn in or anything. They actually fit very well.
