Mechanic origonally told me it was just the bent tie rod and it woud be about 100 euro to fix.

Today he just called and said that this cant just be replaced and I need a whole new power steering unit for 3,100 euro on german econemy unelss I can find something in the states. I am confused by what he means the whole thing? what would that even be called to search for steering coloum, steering tray, tie rods what the hell? and why cant a tie rod just be replaced

Does this sound fishy? Should I get a second oponion

 

inner tie rods? nengun/rhd japan has them but no where else

the shop said he has a picture of what he needs im going to get that picture tomorrow
