Experience with EBC red?

I need new brakes. I only daily drive my car. I've done some research but haven't found too much information on the EBC reds.

Any experience with them? or other pads that are good for the street?

thank you

I had them on my 8. For daily driving they'll be fine. For anything else, not really. You mightaswell get girodisc magic pads or something similar that isn't performance oriented, dusts less and lasts longer than the EBC's.

Magics also have less bite.

See my brake thread. I have the Reds and Yellows for my SVTF. I like the Reds a lot for street use.

Others to check out - Satisfied GS5, DS2500, and Axxis ULT (if you can find them). Stoptech makes another pad now that some have. I do not know much on them yet.

When I had my 1g I had EBC's greens on them. I've heard good things about the red's but never used them. If you only DD your evo then I dont think you would need something that is performance based

^ I strongly disagree. Having good bite on the car does make it fun to DD too.

EBC Red would be fine for AutoX and Street use. If you want to do road track, go to the Yellows.

Just street. My understanding is that the reds have .5 coefficient, so they would have as strong as an initial bite as the ferodos 2500?

Budget..I don't want 600 dollar pads but I'm up for suggestions. For the full set id prefer to be under 300

I have them as per SmikeEvo's advice and love them. Less bite than stickers when cold but after a few stops they are way better. Did a panic stop the other day and I was impressed to say the least. Also very little dust. I got mine on Amazon for about 150-160 shipped.

I like the ult's but haven't tried searching for them in over a year. I remember it took me a bit to get them last year and the vendor I went with no longer sells pads IIRC.

Agreed. I switched out to cheap *** advance auto pads $80 all around) for the street (since I bought dedicated track pads) and they are significantly less fun than the ULT's were. With that said they still do the job; had a panic stop in traffic the other day and had to slow my slowing down so the car behind me wouldn't rear end me.

If you can find the ULT's you should be under $200 for the full set

GS5s are also under 200. Should be ~170 from ibrakeparts.com

Had a little eye opener today. Got to drive the areas FTD leader (Evo) and I can honestly say that my EBC Yellows do not compare to his pads. I'm trying to find out what he's using, but whatever he had make my car seems spongy.

On a side note, will SS lines helps with the spongy feeling?
