Bilstein has had my suspension for 8 months, 1 front strut needs a strut tube (silver part) I put the wrong camber plates on a blew the thread shaft in half.

They cannot get me one, nor do they know anything. all i am waiting on is a $xx.xx part, however they can not get it, its not made, i really dont know what to do, all i do know is i am getting jerked around by bilstein who said before i sent them in 8 months ago that they can custom make one if they do not have it in stock, i keep getting..next month....next month....next month.!!!!!!!!!!!

Iguess my question is..... what do I do? I have asked bilstein if they can give me a fair price on a set of coils, they come back with a retail price... , I would love to buy coilovers but it does not seem cost effective.

You've seriously had your car down for 8 months over a $300 part?? Sounds like after 8 months you'll have bite the bullet and buy another new one or at least a used set. Never hurts to have some spares.

Search Ebay too. Lots of single Bilsteins find their way there. When someone blows a strut and they go to coilovers the 3 good ones always end up on either ebay, craigs list, or the marketplace here.

they sell full struts... i have no need for a full brand new strut.. i only need a strut tube..... $3XX vs $xx

 

How the hell has this taken 8 months? Have you been checking ebay at all? I have seen single struts up for sale on there. I'll keep my eyes open for one single strut for you. That's ridiculous.

 

That had happen to me last week but in my case it was bc coilovers, I call him last week friday and ups send it front of my door by monday (coilover cartridge $95). 8 months ha...I dont think I can have my car down for that long

How do you know its a $xx part if bilstein does not sell them?

Did you tell bilstein the problem before sending the strut to them? Did they say they could fix it?

Seems like you think that bilstein owes you something. If they said they could fix it, but cannot, then maybe they should refund your shipping, and send the parts back. Otherwise, I don't see why they should give you cheap coilovers.

It's bummer that your only option seems to be buying a whole strut.

Which camber plates did you use? I'm sure the community could benefit from your mistake.

 

you can also buy a used set of gsr struts cheap to at least have your car driveable until you resolve your bilstein issue.
