i did... had an instructor in the car with me.... He was speachless when we started spinning... the onlything i heard him yell was "both feet down"... but that was like 10 seconds after i already did that...lol once i felt the tire blow i immediately went both feet down and straighted out the wheel and just let the car go... When we finally stopped the instructor said that it was the most controlled spin out hes been in and that i did everything right...

You know i said the same thing about the rim... i guess the tire was jammed up underneath it..... but i was like WTF.. no damage to the car and slight rash on the rims edge... it was like a 1 in a million ending...

99% of blow outs are from excessive heat and 99% of those are from a rapid air loss.

So if the blow out was on the inside like pictured, you guys think outside wall caused it? or something inside wall caused it?

inspect the tire as good as you can for any punctures. if you dont find anything check the other rear for signs of rubbing since that side is going to be too hard to tell.

Yeah, going to be really hard to tell. But if you caught something up there it could have worn though the sidewall right quick at 120mph.

WOW lucky you didn't eat it. That course at Englishtown is too dangerous especially where you enter the track there is a turn there. Really poor track IMHO.

Thanks guys... yeah this was at the very end of the back stretch... the course was set up counter clockwise so if you were in the stands facing the track, you entered right after the banked left hand turn and exited after the slight left turn after the back straight away... it blew up top of 4th gear and i spun to behind the big hill.... come to think of it where i blew out was perfect because as a spun out i actually stopped almost all the way around that turn... the path of the spin stayed with the course

I was extremely lucky... very very minor inner well damage where the sheredded tire was flapping against as i drove off... and the rash on the rim... other then that i see no damage any where else on the car...

That could have been a totaled car into the wall, or a flipping and kart wheeling car landing me in the hospital or worse...

do you know what your tire pressures were before going out?

tires are so good these days that blow outs are uncommon. heck, lots of us run till the cords are making noise. not a good thing but an indication of tire strength.

any side wall rubbing would have been very noticeable from the noise you would have heard in the cabin. you didn't hear anything going around corners?

****ting a brick does not even describe what i was going through as i felt the car LEAN HARD to the side where the rim was grinding on pavement at 110mph... I think i said 50 Hail Mary's and 50 Our Fathers in .3 seconds...
