Some spacer insight needed, please.

I have a set of Sport Edition E1 wheels I bought for a song ($160 with tires!) to use as my winter wheels, but I need to get a set of spacers for the Brembo clearance.

I did a search, but I couldn't find a chart telling me how thick of a spacer I'd need, and I was leery of taking a stab in the dark here.

The critical dimensions are 17" x 7" / 5 X 114.3 / Offset 53

Seller's pic:

Right now I'm rolling in the ratty old Subaru while the IX cools it's heels. It's not fair to her.

Thanks in advance, Tom

With that width and offset I don't know if there's a spacer big enough to work. Even with a 1" (25mm) spacer you're still about 8mm shy of stock spoke-caliper clearance assuming that the spoke shape is similar which is not likely.

Damn. That's unfortunate. I guess there's a craigslist posting coming in my future.

Just for reference, what's the offset range I can run without needing spacers? I may just get Blizzaks for the stock Enkeis but I was hoping to go an inch less in width for winter tires.

Thanks Scott.

also, if you are running a big 25mm spacer you will need extended bolts and open end lugs

There's no exact number since caliper clearance is very dependent on the curvature of the spokes which vary greatly from wheel to wheel and even different sizes of the same wheel. Generally though a stock width (8") wheel will need a maximum offset of 36 to have clearance (25-30 would be preferable). A 7" wheel would require a 25mm offset maximum. I've searched quite a bit and haven't yet found a wheel with these dimensions for winter use.

I'm assuming then that most Evo guys are using stock wheels for winter use, as the 7" wide wheel is getting to be tight on the caliper's surface? Like Jonah said, I don't really want to punch the lugs out and run longer studs with open-faced lugs.

:Edit: I'm pretty jealous of your event listing, too!
