Kinda new at this...

Hi guys looking to finally upgrade the suspension... Kinda new to this and looking for some input. I've decided to go with Bilsteins but i don't know if i should just go with the HD's or wait and find MR Bilsteins on the Market Place. Some say there an upgrade... Aside from that guys I'm thinking of going with Swifts (open to other suggestions) but curious how much of a drop i could expect and the overall ride comfort and if this is a good combination... Daily it and don't track it much (yet). Thank you guys.

I have been very pleased with Swift's and MR Bilstein's for a daily driver. It is a little lower than I would like, but the ride quality is very good and the car handles well. I can't commend on Bilstein HD's though, no experience.

Same here. MR Bilstiens + Swifts, Nice improvement in handling, but the shocker (coming from OEM KYB's and OEM Springs) was how much smoother the car rides. I feel like this is how Mitsu should have equipped ALL Evo's to start with.

^ I agree, the car is much smoother on the Bilstein's. The difference is dramatic.

Bilstein + GTWorx is also a great combo. Spring rates are just a tad softer than Swift Spec R's, and the GTWorx aren't as low. This is the set-up I'm going with in the spring.

Swift Spec R + bilstiens valved to match them is the best bet. Some guy is selling some custom bilstiens in classifieds. Pick that up and some spec R swift from a vendor like Kami Speed and you will be set.

Ditto, although in my case its the HD Bilsteins and Swift Spec-Rs. The HDs allegedly have slightly stiffer valving, but I don't think there's much of a difference between the MR Bilsteins and the HDs. Can't go wrong with either one, IMO.

It also depends on what your looking for. The swifts do drop the car more significantly and get you closer to the stops. The valving maybe perfect but if your going into the stops your spring rates spike and it starts to defeat the purpose. I tried to pickup the guys set too but it seems he's changed his mind about selling. That dropped look does come with compromises.

I'm on mr bilstein+tanabe, good ride and solid cornering. Swifts were my 1st choice but found a deal I couldn't pass up.

Firm to soft valving:
KYB --- HD - MR. Using - to show how far off. MR and HDs feel pretty similar to me on the street. Both are good upgrades since they can be rebuild and custom valved for the spring you have.

^+1^

Stock MR Bilsteins are a downgrade from the stock KYB's for track use. They do ride better on the street but are slower on the track.
