Help with suspension set up

Ok, I need help with a problem i have and thats cornering. I have a 05 RS and i lose my back end alot on cornering. My current setup is Tein flex coilovers and running 275-35-18. got the stock RS rear sway bar still installed. dropped my rear tire pressure to 28 psi and i'm still losing my back end. mess with my coilover dampening a few times and it's kinda in the middle between soft and hard. road conditions is down hill and uphill but not track. sometimes a little damp or little road dirt/sand since its a traveled road but to local traffic only...i feel if i stiffen up the suspension more it might cause it to lose faster..anyone have the same problem?

When you say - lose my back - I assume you mean that you have oversteer? A lot has to do with driving style and how stiff your rear end is set up. But, based on what you are saying, there is not a lot causing your oversteer esp with the wider tires, I would almost expect more grip all the way around.

Lowering pressures past the working point of the tire can cause it to lose grip. You may want to raise those pressures up to a point the tire was meant to work with.

Spring rates? Tires used? Life of tires?

I know that the tein flex coilovers have a stiffer spring rate in the front than in the rear, but if anything that would cause you understeer; I speak from experience because I used to run a set with edfc for about 40,000 miles. I wasn't pleased with the understeer so I upgraded to cusco swaybars front and rear, and that really helped neutralize the steering.

adjust your dampening to be slightly stiffer, up the tire pressure, and upgrade that rear swaybar. get a roll center adjustment kit to compensate for the drop you get with these, and maybe even get custom spring rates.

thanks for all the good reply's. i'll up the pressure and stifin the supension and see if that helps..got the rear set at 10 clicks. seems like i need it softer to roll with the corners but maybe i'm getting body roll causing my rear end to lose traction..also read setting the ACD to gravel mode helps so idk..what u guys think. only about 5000 miles on suspension, 19000 on car and about 85% tire thread. i dont daily drive so it will be a while till i get new tires..(star specs )

^ Are you lifting mid-corner? If you lift it will cause the back of the car to rotate and the back end will come around on you. You have to learn to just keep your foot in it, at least driving on the track you do... I don't recommend driving that hard on the street though.

Agree with grillpt. Also did you have an alignment done after coilover install?

Yep sounds like me....lifting mid corner and these corners are too sharp to keep my foot in it. Alignment was done and all parameters were in specs.. I drove in my buddy's M3 the other day and his car sticks to the corner very well so i'm trying to get my car to stick. i even taught i was just getting nervous and my car really wasnt sliding that bad that is until i was completly sideways. anyways i expected my 275 to hold better than they do now

Whatever you do, don't lift and hit the brakes at the same time... If you think it came around quick before, try that.
Good rule to follow is slow in, fast out. If you slow down corner entry you'll be able to get back on the gas sooner than before, leaving your buddy in his M3 in your dust.
