Proper wheel width for a 245?

Quick question, running STU solo next year, and we are limited to a 245 width tire. What is the ideal width rim, keeping in mind we want to keep the weight down as much as possible.
The tires we would most likely buy are the Star specs in a 245/40/17 . My research would lead me to believe a 8.5" wide wheel would be the correct choice, would like to hear some opinions, am I giving up some grip and squareness of the tread with the 8.5.
TIA

a 9" rim would have less sidewall flex, but sorry I didn't consult the STU rules to see what the minimum treadwear you could run, 140 and above correct?
oh z1 are 200, my bad
an 8.5 rim should keep your tire completely square, if the weight diff wasnt much between 8.5 and 9 "I would go 9"
but im not a pro ...

8.5 is correct stock they come with 235's you can run 2/25/35/45/55 however 245 will give you better turn in over 255 i'd either go 245's or 255's.

between 8-9" 17X9 Enkei RPf1s are ~16lbs, 17x8.5 are ~15.2lbs

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I'm thinking 8.5" should do the trick.

Rick won nationals with 9.5" wheels. I have both 8.5" and 9" and can't tell the difference. I've trophied at national tours with both...
