Evo + Snow/Ice = Yeah!
This week the weather reports called for a "Winter Storm" to roll through town. It had been raining all day, then it turned to ice and snowed on top of that. Late that same evening, I took the Evo out on the fresh ice and snow.
I have to say that with the current setup, the car handled better on the ice than most cars do in rain! I have the Blizzak WS-50s (from TireRack) on the stock rims and it was a true blast!
If anyone is debating weather to garage the Evo this Winter, bear in mind that a vast potential of this car would go untapped! The sport ABS did a great job of figuring out what was going on too. The temps were around 28-31F, so there was plenty of throttle-response for pulling out of over-steering.
Of course, be careful and know your limits. Practice in an empty parking lot first to get the feel for it.
Have fun this Winter!
