michelin pilot super sport vs direzza star spec?
was about to place order for direzza star specs, but have been reading about these new michelin pilot super sports. price is same, but the michelins are 300 treadware and ahve a 30,000 wear warranty..ive heard the direzzas are good for 10-12,000 miles...
i daily drive my car, spirited, separate tires/wheels for winter, will take to track few times as well for road racing.. but most spirited daily driving in summer street/highway
any suggestions?

ive been on my 255/40ZR17 Star Specs for almost 30k miles now and im just now starting to get down to around 3/32nds tread...ive done a good amount of autocross and 4 track days as well as spirited driving on these tires and actually drove on the tires through winter too...never driven on the pilot super sports but i have heard good things about them...kinda curious to hear what others think about them compared to the star specs as far as performance

yea im not sure if its typical or not...when i bought them i was only expecting 15k at the most but i have been very surprised with what i've gotten out of them...im not sure what i've done i mean i've also dragged it a couple times on the tires too...i do check my alignment and make adjustments usually once a month or everytime before and after a track day (only because i am able to use the alignment rack for free at work tho)
What do you mean by trackdays?
I've got about 10kmiles from each of two sets of Z1* I've used (one was 235/45/17, other 245/40/17) - relatively frequent motorsports use (I mean road race and autocross) with close eye on servicing the car (i.e. alignment and everything else). I believe this kind of mileage is still good for this type of usage.
As well it should be noted that for road racing Z1* are very demanding to the alignment, too low camber can result in tires edges being killed just in 3-4 short (15mins) sessions.

so if im going to get even 20k id b ok. michelin super sport, with 30k is with a warranty.
Personally I would not expect any mileage significantly higher than 10kmiles from the ultra high performance summer tires, especially on a car that makes such power as yours and driven more or less actively.
It is virtually inevitable correspondence of grip and wear, the higher the grip - the faster the wear, and otherwise. All the variations may differ just slightly, but not few times.
Just mho, so take it fwiw.

The Super Sport pretty much came out about a month ago so testing hasn't been done quite yet. Probably won't be tested against each other as they are from two different classes. The SS would handle an auto-x event, but is really happy as a hard driven street tire. If you see more track time and don't have much need for a tread life warranty I'd stick with the Z1's.

As long as you have a tire-friendly alignment, don't drive like an a$$hat and don't track at 10/10ths, you should get at least 20K out of the star specs.
I'll probably see you at the track day. With the kind of power you're making, you may want to consider de-tuning for you first track day.

lol no they're z1 star specs...planning on buying another set here in the next month or so...im amazed by the miles i have gotten out of them too...just like someone else has already said on here...if you keep up with your alignment angles and kno what kind of setup you need for the kind of track you're gonna be running on then you should have no problem getting at least 20k miles out of them...technically im currently at 27500ish miles on them right now
I also got over 27,000 miles from my Z1* Specs. 1 track day at Buttonwillow, 2 Auto-X events, some mt. runs and daily driving. I ended up getting a puncture that couldn't be repaired. I easily had enough tread left to make it to at least 30-33k maybe more. I was very suprised at how long they lasted, I predicted no more than 20k before they'd be toast with no track day.
