upper spring perch on stock struts orientation

I got a little over anxious in installing my springs the other day and didn't pay much attention to the upper spring perch's location in the front. If you look at it the strut doesn't come through the center of it. I currently have mine where the strut is as far forward as it can go. I was wondering if anyone has theirs in the back location to get a little more caster and if there is any negative effects of doing that.

Can someone at least tell me where the strut is from the factory? I have looked all over for some pics but, can't find any that show the upper spring perch. I know that the caster is in spec but, the steering just feels lighter.
