bumpy braking/slow down?

when I'm braking I get this bumpy motion like the brakes are on and off for milliseconds at a time. I heard it could be warped rotors...

I bought the car from a dealership about 2 months ago and they said that if anything were wrong with the brakes/if the brakes were worn down they would have replaced them

what generally causes this to happen? and how long does it take?

P.S. I don't track my evo

The rotors might need to be resurfaced.

I have the same issue right now on mine. Been like this for a few months, when i asked a local mechanic that comes into my diner he said it is in fact a warped rotor and you only feel it under the slow down portion of breaking when you have less pressure on the pads. It makes the Anti lock break system think the wheels are slipping thus making the system go into action.

It doesn't cause abs to go off. The abs actuates off of wheel speed sensors not the rotors. Your problem is overheating your front rotors, usually from very heavy braking then resting on the brake pedal for a period of time causin the rotor to overheat or very light braking for long periods of times, say if u rest your foot on the pedal. Warping of the rotors is sometimes due to pad material but usually due to driver braking habits. Try to revaluate the way u stop to prevent this in the future. Also pad selection helps, try ferodo ds2500, I've personally ha very good luck with those pads. There are others that are good, just search the forums. Now to eleviate your problem at hand, yes you will need to machine your rotors flat again, but get them measured as if they are getting thin you will need to replace them. Hope that helps.

"Warped" rotors is pad material transfer.

Re-surface rotors. Check pad type and life. If low quality or racing pad (out of temp usage range) it will deposit material to the rotor surface.

agreed
i had this problem with a set of centric pads- replaced them with racing brake pads and now the shaking stopped.

thanks! I'm gonna get my rotors checked out and hopefully resurfaced soon... it happened to me in my Z too but I had warranty so it was free plus the rotors on the Z needed resurfacing because of something else, so in that case it wasnt my braking hahaha.

thanks for the replies!
