Interesting. Good post. Factory alloys ftw. They should of tested some hellaflush wheels. Hahaha.

Cool! I would still want to see how other designs of alloy do. That was a beefy looking GM wheel... what about a lightweight OZ or something with really thin spokes.

Awesome strength notwithstanding... it helps to land on a humongous spoke in a heavy weight AL wheel vs. what seems like a lightweight mg wheel. Also, me thinks the magnesium wheel had quite a few whacks before producing the "big one". See 3 & 12 o'clock positions.

Looks like the rail was already too weak to resist the the alloy as well. Would have been more substantial if they had 3 separate rails that would have held its strength in the ground for each wheel test.

I'm willing to bet that alloy would have suffered more damage...
