Tein Flex's worth the money?
I keep going back and fourth with coilover's. I wanted the Flex adjustable system but I see tons of people always selling used ones. Is there a reason you see these up for sale the most? Not worth the money?? Do they tend to leak faster than other coilover's for the price/performance range? If I'm buying a set, I want to make sure I'm getting the most for the money. For the price I expect very high quality and no problems with them for a long time.

Most who are selling them are getting into a better coilover setup. TEin Flex's are little better then BC Racing, HKS, Megan, Apex'i etc.
I have them and they are fine for daily driving but I will be selling them soon so I can get a better coilover setup. If you just want to lower the car they will more then fit the need. Like anything else out there. If you are buying them to track the car seriously then look at KW, Bilstein.....Lower down on the scale Bilstein MR's and Switft/GT Worx springs and higher up on the scale JRZ, Moton, etc

I used to own some. They aren't horrid but they aren't great either. If you do end up getting them at least swap the springs front to back. I forget their exact springrates (its in a thread here somewhere) but they were set up stiffer in the front than in the rear.

Thats exactly what i did. My spring rates were 10k f 8k r. I swapped them before I put them on.
I may be swapping end of the summer. I'll let you know (and yes I have the EDFC)

I'm not looking to drop the car, it's on Tein springs that have it lowered 1.5" now I don't want to go lower if anything back up a half inch or so. I will be tracking it a few times this summer and driving it pretty regularly so I want a street friendly but great track coilover setup. For $1700 that the Flex's cost, what could I get that would be better? I was gonna get MR Bilstein's but I'd rather go all the way.

Tein springs.
Well, looks like you drunk from that water cooler.
Will be tracking or have tracked? As an instructor - don't do suspension or power first. Do learn to drive the car you have 110% first.
$1700 for Teins is a rip off. ASTs, KW3s are not much more and much better quality. Either way, coil-overs do not like winter salt+sand+harsh roads.
GTWorx springs and Blisteins would still be better in my book.

Also it won't be seeing any more winters as I'm putting a lot of money into it this spring so salt isn't a problem. Not in a sandy area either and I clean my car religiously in the spring-summer-fall I'm not scared of pulling the wheels and cleaning my coilovers periodically.
The $1,700 is for the coilovers and the in cab controller. And that's about my spending limit but If I can get a far better system for a couple hundred or so more, I'd be a fool not to but I have nothing to compair them to. The only EVO coilover's I've experienced were HKS Hyper's and I liked the feel all around. I see KW's recommended quite often but I've also seen them for around $3,000 which is a bit over my suspension budget at the moment.

Right. Heard that. Not to be taken offensively. But street driving is nothing like 11/10ths race driving on a track. I've instructed guys that have said the same thing. In the end they were not as fast as they thought and had a lot to learn.
That in-cabin crap is just marketing. When you have a suspension setup...you do not change it. Sure, it looks cool for all the kids at the Friday night hangout. You'll never see it at an actual race event.
KW Clubsports are $3k. GTWorx KW3s are not.
Tein cant get the spring rights right. That's red-flag number 1 (of many). Contact Andrew at GTWorx for a KW3 quote.

I will contact Andrew and get a quote. You can't blame me asking for some opinions before buying. I'd like to get the right system the first time and forget about it, rather than spend the money, then have to swap out springs etc. That's not right.
Having had the EDFC I would say its not worth the trouble of installing it. While it is nice to be able to adjust it from inside the cabin you will find you will never really adjust it. Its a neat toy, but its really that; a toy.

I hear what your saying, but I'm not your average car enthusiast. I'm NOT looking for show and I'm NOT out to be the "cool kid" at the friday night meets. Overall I'll probably track maybe 4 times this summer and I'll drag it a bit more. Plus daily to work (3 mile drive) and yes the occasional friday night rip. I know what my car can do and I know it's limits. I'll be right at the 400whp mark and next step is to dial in the susp. NO I won't be looking to adjust my coilovers once I get them dialed in the way I want, It's just nice to be able to adjust while I drive to get the perfect feel without stop, adjust, go, stop, adjust, go etc...

I agree. If going to do it; do it right.
