Rear Sway Bar Install

Hi all,

Installing a Swift sb on my 8.
I've seen a one thread and a few PDF's(Hotchkis, Perrin) regarding procedure.
I'm using stock mounts and end links.

Do I need to drop muffler or remove lower control arm to snake in bar?
Driveway job, no lift.

Please chime in if you've done this install.
Thanks

Some people have gotten away with not having to drop the control arm. I dropped it and it made it super easy for me.

You're going to need to drop the muffler. Some people, I think, have gotten away with not dropping the lower control arm and were able to wiggle the bar in, but if you can't get it in within 15 minutes, then just drop the lower control arm and spare yourself the 2 hours that I wasted

i just dropped the muffler, no lift here. i tried to snake it with muffler on, but that was a bad idea.
the BIG part is, spray some pb blaster on the endlinks, and before u try to do anything, see if u can break them loose before unbolting the sway bar. 1 of mine was seized and i had to order another set.

I just installed mine today. I got the old one out with just dropping the exhaust. Went to put the new one in and it was close. Ended up dropping the driver sided control arm and it slid right in. I got sent the wrong endlinks so I'm waiting on those but it seems to be rubbing on the subframe. Anyone else have that issue?

you should not have to remove the exhaust but if it makes your job easier then remove it. you can also use the stock end links. basically remove the stock sway bar and depending on what sway bar you bought then just follow the setup directions and bolt it up.

drop the muffler. you can get it in without dropping the LCA but it's probably just easier to do it straight up rather than waste a bunch of time trying and then having to do it anyway.
