Brake cap question
Hello all,
I did some searching on here and Google and really couldn't find an answer. Basically I just want to be sure that the rubber piece that is under the brake reservoir cap isn't suppose to fit perfectly inside the cap. I bled my brakes and when I took the cap off the rubber piece just popped out of place, I tried putting it back in but it doesn't fit well since the circumference of the rubber piece is pretty much the same as the cap. I can force it inside the cap and get the cap on the reservoir but I don't like the thought of it possibly being on wrong. I can provide pics if needed.
Thanks for any help.

The seal is all the way down in the bottom, underneath the locking tabs. I doesnt look like it should move a whole lot. If you have any doubts just invest in a new cap. Its not worth it to contaminate your fluid with a bad seal. A new cap couldnt be that much imo.

I might do that but I kind of want to get a power bleeder before doing so.
I think the person that owned the car before me replaced the rubber piece under the cap with one from another car. Mine doesn't look like what is posted a couple posts back and in no way can fit flat under the cap since it's the same damn size lol.

Thats just my input on it from looking at your cap and comparing to mine.

Your cap looks different from those pics. Mine has that center seal piece, yours looks like its flat in the center. Like I said, it could just be the pics. The rubber piece MIGHT be the correct one though. On my cap, the rubber piece sits flush and also goes up around the center piece as well. Thats why it is about the same size as the cap-- so it can seal like its supposed to.

I just ordered a new cap from the dealer today. It was $12 bucks so why not. My current cap and seal is the exact same size as the outer part of the cap so there is no way to make the rubber seal sit flush.
