Question about wheel fitment

Hey guys, I searched...a lot. I found a lot of useful info but I wanted to get more specific for my particular car and usage. I'm installing the Ohlins R/T coilovers pretty soon and I want to put a slightly wider wheel and tire combo on my car for traction in a straight line and for cornering. I use my car for drag racing, road racing, and street driving with most of its life being spent on the street.

With that said, I'm running the stock MR BBS wheels right now with a stock size tire. I want to switch the Enkei RPF1's either 17x8 +35 or 17x8.5 +30. I'm also running StopTech BBK kits on both front and rear. The fronts are 332x32 rotors which work with the stock wheels.

Should I get the 8 or the 8.5 wheel? Which is better for my purposes? Are tires hard to find for the 17x8.5 wheel? Are they a lot more expensive?

not sure what tire size you want to run, but 8.5" is the minimum recommended wheel width to run a 255 size tire (with 255/40R17 being a very popular size).

any tire you can run on the 8" wheel should be fine on the 8.5" assuming you're not planning on running something narrower than stock.

Per my guys here,

Only 2.2mm to the top of the caliper. NO GO. It's too tight.
17x8 et35 PF01 has 2.5mm to top of caliper, if wheel weights on outside lip, it works….
There's just no room for wheel weights on inside.

Hope that helps.

You should not have a problem as long as your running the 30 to 35 offset like you stated above.

I ran the RPF1 in 17x8.5 +35 on my evo for a long while. You just have to put on a pretty thick spacer to clear the front caliper. I forget how thick it was.

I'm running a 18x9.5 +35 Rota wheel with 255/35/18 tire and have 0 clearance issues.

Per fit team,

Clears the top of the caliper by 2.48mm…
Wheel weights will need to go as close to the spokes as possible.
Carefully check when first mounted.
9.5” wide getting very aggressive. Must check fender and strut clearance depending on tire choice. Fitment responsibility of customer
