In need of some new suspension (shocks)
Well, did some reading and the reviews I found on here and a few other sites had me decide to go with BC Racing BR Coilovers. I'm going to sell the HKS as is once I take them off the car. If the other 4 are still good, which they should be, what would be a reasonable price? I was going to be happy with $500 since they can be rebuilt and new they were close to 2k....from what I could find.

HKS were not great either. Better direction is MR Bilsteins (or HD versions) and good aftermarket springs (GTWorx, Robi, Swift). BC is junk. Expect that.
Find or called and spoke with a rebuild shop?
What makes them junk? I believe you said Tien was junk and I loved them and I only had the basics. I also had KYB AGXs with a Tein spring, loved them too. What classifies the BCs as junk? Just curious.

You need to read up on suspensions for this car.
Valving, construction, not matched, incorrect spring rates...do I need to go on?
Tein is the same nonsense - springs for this platform are too low and too soft. You ride on the bumpstops when they are freshly installed -- terrible for the internals and for handling. Yeah - car is slammed...this is not a car to slam.
You have the potential of a great handling car. Yeah, previous owner ****ed it up for you. Do not make the same mistakes and make the car handle worse. Its a $30k sports car -- not a $3k Honda.

Now, from what I gather in your reply, the basic side of your argument for me getting the BC's was a bad choice is because of ride quality. I think the issue is you seem to be a bit more worried about suspension setups then I am. If the car is stick as F, I could care a less. I just dont want the car bouncing around like the shocks are blown out after hitting a bump 2 miles back. Before this I owned a Z06 that was making 460 rwhp and was slammed on stock suspension. Stiff? Oh yeah! But I didn't mind it one bit and that car was $52k. So riding in an EVO with the possibility of it being a little stiff is not concerning to me. What I look for when buying something: some reviews (read two seperate threads on here where people said they loved the BC's) and price. The car is not going to be slammed. I wanted, even with a strut setup, a 1.5" drop all the way around. Im sure these will do that as well. I looked into the Bilsteins and springs....way to much money for them, IMO and I refuse to go used based on not knowing what may be wrong with them. And lastly, I plan on purchasing yet another vehicle in the next year and the EVO will be a weekend or nice weather car only so IF the ride quality is teeth chattering, one year of it won't hurt.
Like I said, you know more then I do but I just want to explain that I am not out to track race the car and suspension costing $1500+ is just retarded, IMO. I dont need something like that to drive a whole 12 miles a day to and from work on straight smooth highway.
Ok, before I respond I will first say you obviously know WAAAAAY more about suspension then I do and I respect that.

You say this will be a DD until you get another car then it will be a weekend toy. Great :-) A word of advice then...dont put parts on it that will cost money to replace again.
Second word of advice....do not lower the car 1.5 " all around. Particularly in the front 1.5" and any more than that and the instaneous roll center from lowering too much will cause handling issues ( roll center below ground ). Front end will want to pivot on its nose causing a poor handling car, and lack of traction on both ends. That issue is why Whiteline came out with the roll center fix.
Be careful for lowering the rear more than one inch as well. As Smike said too short lowering springs allow the inner valves to bottom out and get destroyed. doing that on adjustable height coilovers causes snubbing issues as the car rebounds from a bump, ultimately causing the car to porpoise under braking even just hard street braking.
You def can buy Bilstein/Swift combos for $6-700. You can buy the Bilsteins brandnew for $850 shipped and new Swift or GT-Worx springs for $$250-300
So for the money you will have a very good handling car with parts that are proven on the street and track, that are high quality, and will last a long time. And you wont have to replace them when you juice the motor to 450 hp ( yes you will want to do that after awhile all evo owners get the urge ). They will still handle it.
I hope this helps..i take the long and best view of where I want my car to go and refuse to buy and replace cheap crap as I have gone that route in the past (d2 racing knockoff wheels etc although not on an evo )
BTW ... sorry for the broken strut..
Just to give you an idea that Ive tried this or that, Ill list out what I have either in my garage, setup in my garage, or on my car. Basically 2 Evos and 1 DSM (2 are mine, one I just set up)
AST 5100s coilovers
Ohlin DFV coilovers
AMR coilovers
Tein SS coilovers
Bilstein Struts (2 sets of rears even)
KYB Struts
GTWorx springs
Hotchkiss springs
Stock springs
24 springs between Hyperco, Swift, and Eibach.
My Talon is on Koni Yellows and Gc sleeves
Driven my old roommates car in anger on Bilsteins and Swifts.
Hated my buddies old Ksports on a GVR4
To say Ive tried a few things is an understatement considering I'm not a shop, just a suspension *****.
With that said, why waste your time with the BCs? They wont handle better than Bilsteins/GTworx or Swifts, they wont last longer, they cost more (I think?), they are harder to get rebuilt, the ride worse.... Buying a coilover for coilovers sake isn't a smart way to spend money.
Just trust us when we say you will enjoy the Bilsteins that much more, still be completely track-able (unless running DOT-slicks), and DD like a champ.

Since the BCs are already ordered and shipped, IF I were to see about returning them, where do you find Bilsteins for cheap new? Locally a parts store wants $300 a piece for fronts and $200 a piece for rears. Then springs and whatever else may be needed....we are talking $1200+.......
Not sure if anyone has stock MR Bilsteins besides a OEM parts store, but there are some places like GTWorx/RCE that carry the Bilstein HD dampers, which are supposedly a bit more rough than the OEM dampers.

Smike really knows his stuff about the EVo suspension. What we are trying to say is : the cheap coilovers like HKS, BC, D2 Racing, etc that go for $1000 -$1200 new are bad for your car. they will not make it handle any better than the stock. Plus they are cheaply made and will prove to have no real effect when trying to adjust the needle valve adjusters. Many people have purchased them and found they need replacing for one reason or another within a few months. Search and you will find a fairly high repair rate along with a long time to be able to get the replacements if they are available at all. ( Happened to me with D2Racing )

$750 for front/rear set of Bilstein HDs. Contact one of the vendors above. $250-300 for Swift, Robi, or GTWorx springs.
OR search the used suspension area for MR Bilsteins, Ohlins, KWs, or ASTs. They pop up from time to time.
Just a random side story: My wife and I were talking last night about this whole situation and she was going on about how her KYB's were amazing on her Eclipse and how she liked the stiff ride of the Vette and she likes the very low stance of my current EVO (prior to the breaking of the coilover) then went on to put things in her own perspective. I was acutally kind of impressed....lol. She says "Look at it like this, if a BC rep or someone sponsored by BC got in on the convo, they 100% would tell you that everyone else's products are junk....kinda like your nutritionist." (I'm BIG into working out and have a nutritonist/body builder who writes my meal plans and supplement plans and is sponsored and always says his sponsors stuff is grade A and everyone else's is garbage...even when he changes sponsors his pushing of his product is always his sponsor and everyone else sucks). So she went on to say "He tells you that this is better then this and everything you take is garbage and you are wasting money and if you do it right up front then you would be happier but you have gain alot of muscle and you dont buy what he recommends. So how does this differ with the cars? You have owned many lowered cars, you like the stiff bumpy ride, you are not into autocrossing or stuff like that, you dont take corners hard (I was in a bad wreck with a friend driving years back), you replaced my blown struts on my TL with Ebay garbage no name ones and we drove it 30,XXX miles before we sold it and they worked like stock....so why not stick with what you ordered and move on?" She gave me alot to think about. Granted she knows less about suspension then I do BUT she has a point. I think I am going to still look into what you guys are suggesting since, like I said, you guys know your chit about suspension.
With the above said, the BC's are on their way regardless at this point and if I choose to return them I will obviously have to wait for them to arrive, ship back, then refund me back so it gives me some time to locate Bilsteins. Now I looked at the GTWorx site and I went to the EVO section....I see nothing in terms of the Bilsteins. I see the springs that you guys keep mentioning but thats it. Also, won't I need to buy camber lates/pillow bar (or whatever they call it on this car) or will the strut bolt right on up and I just need camber bolts like I did on my last car (RSX Type-S)? Just want to see what all this is going to add up to cost wise. Like I said, $1500 in struts is a no go. I still have wheel hubs to replace and those cost me almost $400 to order.
Sorry for rambling, and if I haven't said it yet, thanks for helping me and my stubborn self.

BC/Megan/D2 any of the Taiwanese "choose your color" are all the same.
I am not selling you on companies that sponsor me. I am trying to get the point across that you are hurting the handling of the car by installing sub-par product.
Hey, your money - your car. You posted here. Your choice to not read what we are all saying. Clear that you do not want to have the car running the best (or at least back to stock best) handling.
Slam the car. Enjoy the look. Show and Shine sounds like a better forum for that.

Not on their site but here you go

Good luck getting a set they sell out of stock before they reach the states most of the time
