Whiteline Upgrades

i was thinking about upgrading my rear sway bar and end links to the Whiteline 22mm adjustable but my car is mostly straightline raced.i was always taught softer is better for drag racing, but i hear rhe EVO 8 understeers badly and my end links and sway bar look pretty rough anyway.

will going to s stiffer rear sway bar hurt or help drag raceability?

If you "hear" about understeer, but don't experience it in your driving (and you likely would not), don't worry about what folks say. You'll only make the car worse for yourself.

Impossible to gauge without a whole lot of specifics, not the least of which being how the car behaves right now. In an aggregate sense, the odds are you wouldn't know it's there. Good luck.

Sounds like great advice.

what prompted you to thinking you need to upgrading the rear swaybar. If the reason is good then modify. If not, then just leave it alone until a better reason is found. Most of us money is not easy to come by so why waste it? Even if you were rich why would you waste $?

For road racing I would suggest the 24mm bar on the softest setting first. Drag racing I am unsure.

Rear bar with stock like suspension is a WIN. Stock endlinks are fine so don't waste money on the aftermarket links. The RCK is another great mod if the car is lowered. Hard to explain the difference it made other than the car feels more solid and responsive.

I literally started cracking up when I read this because I know exactly what happened here...

you: * buys evo* initial impressions, " OMG this car is amazing! the acceleration and it handles like nothing I've ever driven before!"

* spends about an hour on evom *

you: " my car has a crappy tune, understeers worse than a bicycle and has a cheap rattling interior"

You have an incredible machine, if you're not driving it hard or using at the track do the regular maintenance and enjoy

you couldn't be farther off base, except about the rattling interior part.thanks for your insight though.

Big Blue,i was prompted by reading here and there that the EVO is bad to understeer, and i am pulling diff to send off for 12 plate kit anyway.my sway bar and endlinks look pretty bad, rust on ends of sway bar.i figured if it would help, why not.it's well under $200.thanks for the advice btw.

Jeff, excuse my ignorance but what is RCK.i believe my car is lowered, but unfortunately i don't know how much.i bought it from a guy in Chicago and it has the tein Flex coil over with EDFC,which is cool even though there isn't much variance from "0" to "16".

basically i am wanting to do some upgrades while the engine and diff are out of the car.

Keep in mind that ever modification has its drawbacks that have to be weighted against the benefits it proves. In your case, modifying the suspension can likely result in a number of drawbacks with no real benefits. For example, a RCK can certainly help a lowered car corner more effectively, but that's not how you use your car. So, you'll be installing a part that's documented as significantly less reliable than stock for no real gain, but you'll be paying for it twice: once to install and then to replace. And for what? Same goes for every other mod listed. A RSB isn't going to do sh/t for your daily driving, do virtually nothing at the strip, but it will make the car more loose (unstable) at the limit, slippery road conditions, etc. That's not what you want, right, seeing how road work doesn't seem to be your forte? Consider suspension mods very carefully. More than anything, a modified suspension can make for some scary driving. Slower, not faster. Good luck.

If he is tuning his EVO for road construction then get rally tires. I'm joking...

I can honestly say that the RSB makes the evo much more fun to drive on the stock suspension. Even if its simply while changing lanes the car will remain flat and snappy rather than listing and sloppy. This is 10x more noticeable if you run a good tire like the RS3, *SPEC or tires with even more grip like R-Comps.

A sway bar in my opinion is a must do for stock suspension.... night and day difference in a good way.
