im a noob with rims help!
i have a Evo 9
Im looking into buying rims for my car. i want the stance to be flush or the littlest bit to stick out of the body.
Will the rota g-force 18inch tire all around (5x114.3+30mm, 73.1 Hub) give me that stance, and also clear the factory front brakes?

Rims / tires have 3 numbers and then offset
stock figures are 235/45/17 +40 offset (im not 100% on offset)
235 is how wide the wheel/tire is, the 45 is how fat the tire is (from rim, and the 17 is the size of rim)
for more stance you want LESS offset .. ie. if stocks +40mm.. you want around +25 +20 - i think around this you would be flush .. more you stick out you may want to roll your guards though to avoid scrubbing the inside of your guards
edit*
+ 30 is okay, if you want more, you have to buy spacers eg. +30 with 10mm spaces will b +20 offset).. or u need a rim with mroe offset to begin with. and yes 18" will clear stock brakes as 17" stock wheels already do so.

Offset is +38 as well on the stock wheels which are 17x8 on 235/45/17 tires.
I beleive my friend is using 17mm spacers with the stock wheels and the wheels are pretty flush as far as pushed outwards. 10mm in the rear same effect.
You will probably want to use something like http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp to figure out much clearance you will have on your wheel/tire combo. If you are going to go with 18x8 wheels then offsets should be around front 21 rear 28. If your wheel is wider you will need to use the calculator for sure to compare the sizes.

^^I gotta agree with curse. Not only do 17s allow for decent weight reduction but they can look more aggressive than an 18 if done right. A nice wide 17 with thick meaty tires just looks badass. Its a personal preference of course, but there was a time when I thought it was stupid to buy 17s when stock size was 17. Now I don't think I'll ever buy an 18. 17 are lighter (in some cases) and look more proportional in terms of wheel-to-tire aspect ratio (sidewall). Again, this is my personal preference...
Offset is the distance that the wheel mounting surface (to the hub) is from the center of the wheel. So for our stock wheel, it is 8" wide. If it were 0 offset, the mounting surface of the wheel would be exactly at 4" from either side of the wheel. + offset moves the mounting surface outward, thus moving the wheel itself into the fender farther. To get the flush look, yea you need a lower offset, but also depends on the width of the wheel. I know people who put 20mm spacers on the stock wheels and it completely changes the look of the car cus the wheels are flush, essentially simulating a +18 offset.
