wheel opinions

just a question for you guys, which wheel would you prefer on a WW evo? 17x9" bronze Volk TE-37s or gold Advan RG's? i want this car to be all go and very little show. i was leaning towards the Volks but i like the advans just as much. any input to which one would be better from a proformance stand point would be great. thanks.

i don't think you could go wrong with either one... but why go with a 9" when an 8.5" would suffice...? you'll just be adding unneccesary weight...

well, mainly for two reasons. first one is because i heard some ppl having trouble clearing the brakes, i dont know how big a concern that is. the second is that i just want a wide wheel....

so you really have no imput to which one might look better

I just switched over to 18x8.5 +30 Volk LE28Ns and it clears my Endless 6 calipers easily.....and those are massive calipers!! My old wheels where Advan RGs in the same size and they cleared the calipers with a little more room than the LE28Ns. The spokes on the RGs curve out and the spokes on the LE28Ns slant out so the RGs have a little bit more clearance.

Go with the RG's. If you want proof on how good they look, go to www.vividracing.com and look at their project evo in WW. The gold RG's have to be the best looking wheels you can get on any color evo.

Well, they are made by advan, HKS put them on their evo for the time attack so you know they are hardcore racing. They are really light too so I say go with those

The Advan RGs in 18x8.2 +30 weighs in at 18lbs and the Volk LE28Ns in the same size weigh in at around 16.5lbs. If you're going for looks AND performance definitely go with the Volks

The volk 37s weigh more the 28s.
The bigger the wheel the heavier so the ration of 90 peformance to 10 looks is a little skewed.

Sites such as this http://www.mysportscar.com/features/wheelweight.htm#A
list the Advans as cast wheels, which I believe they are of the vacuum cast variety. Volks are forged wheels so if it's performance then the Volk is most likely a stronger wheels overall.

Baltown what color EVO do you have? Like everyone said both of these wheels are at the top. Gold seems to be the up and coming wheel color. BUT bronze TE-37's look so good. I've always been a Advan lover because I lived in Yokohama for so long. Look for some new offerings from Advan in the next few months. Did you see all the new RG II wheels at the the TAS?? I love the TE-37 design and performance but they are starting to show up everywhere. Advan not so much. The most impotant thing for you should be what YOU like not what all of the other guys like.

You can't go wrong with either of these wheels.
Advan = great looking and rare, but they are designed for track use. Light weight cast wheels don't like pot holes.

Volk = more common, but they are stronger wheels. I've seen the Te-37s being used on a rally car.
