Tein Type Flex Coilovers height adjustment
Tein Type Flex Coilovers height adjustment
I recently acquired a set of these coilovers, but I am having trouble understanding the drop minimum and maximum. These coilovers are used for ALL CT9A evos, but the drop is different depending on the trim. Is this due to the different weights of the evos?
I have a 9 GSR, what is the max drop I can expect? I copied this from the tein website. I want my car low, but I don't want to dump it. According the the tein website, these coils for the 9 GSR only drop the front 1.6in? Please elaborate, thank you!

BTW this is my first time buying coilovers for any car, so I want to learn as much as I can and also do it right the first time.

So yes there are differences and what works on one doesnt work on the other.
Now how that translates to Tein ..im not sure. Tein has been proven over time to have too much drop and too soft a rate on the replacement springs for the stock struts.
Coilovers from Tein are another beast. Nonetheless it is not good to go lower than 1.6 inch on the front of the EVO as this will put you into roll center issues and cause the car to not handle as well as it should. Please search on this. Look at the sticky in this subforum for spring rates and drop
Whatever you do set the height and corner balance so the front ride height is not compromised...keep it to about 1.2 inches. Your Evo will thank you for it
And keep the rear not more than 0.8 inch drop for the same reason.
The"trim" is based on the stock shocks.. MR had Bilsteins with slightly different gas pressure and valving. The rest had KYB with less gas pressure and consequently different ride height and spring rates. The MR had different spring rates from the other due to the Bilsteins.
