Not another question

Hay guys

I have been looking through hundreds of posts but most of it is very old and i don't know if the data still holds true or not.

I am lost in terms of what tire and wheel size to go with.

I currently have some 18x9.5 +20 running a stretched ( for fitment ) 225/40/18

I am looking to go a lot wider, these wheels will see a lot of daily driving, friday night meeting etc.

I am after a tire that will give great straight line grip for launching etc but still be of a type where i can drive 200 miles to other cities on.

I am tossing up going with a 255/40/17 or 265/35/18
I understand that all things being equal the 265 will provide more over all grip but with the lower profile hinder my straight line grip and increase the chance of wheel hop?

I am currently looking at the bg rivel, dunlop z2 type tire.
Thanks
Shane

I can't speak to which is better but on my old bmw I ran 265/35/18's on it and drove 45 miles one way every day, and also tracked it quite a bit. So that tire is capable not sure if it's the best or not though.
