do RFP1 17x8 look odd?

I'm looking for a light good quality rim to put my track tires on. I figure if I keep it the same as stock I can simply swap them out the day before the meet and no worries, no alignment issues etc. But on old threads there's a general consensus that stock size RPFs look odd and they look better in 18x9.5inch but Its another 100 bucks for an 18 inch tire here so I really just want to keep the cost down as much as I can.

PS. yes I love the look of 18 inch rims but just couldn't be bothered with all the rolling and spacer work, just trying to keep it stock for now and as soon as I go 9inch I know there becomes issues

They look horrible if you ask me. I would never run them.

I've been reading more, looks like the 9 inch have a concave look and the 8 and 8.5 are flat that's why they look odd

it's not just going to be a direct swap either. you'll need different lugs, possibly a centering ring. wheel size is just one aspect. offset could be off, etc. better off having two stock sets, or go all out. i went back and forth on this, running two stock sets for a while - but finally went with 17x9.5s, never looking back
