Performance difference between 17 and 18 inch wheels?

Performance difference between 17 and 18 inch wheels?

what kind of difference is there in performance between the two? mainly concerning autocross and at the drag strip? how wide can i go with the 17s or 18s? are 19s too big? please provide helpful information. thanks!

If you do the plus 1 or plus 2 then it helps in handling b/c you have a short sidewall w/ the 18 or 19's but you can sacrfice ride quality in some instances.. The reason is less deflection of the sidewall or sidewall shift/roll so the vehicle handles better but since it is smaller it also makes the vehicle ride a little rougher, but that is minimal...

The only sideeffect is the added wieght that sometimes comes w/ going up in size but that can be minimal as well..

If you aren't hardcore then you might never notice a difference beside the aesthetic factory of bigger wheels and tires....

17s would be faster, 18's would be a larger diameter, so it would be that much harder to spin. Believe it or not 15 or 16 inch wheels would be optimal, but you can't fit a decent set of breaks on it.
