Man, I love STM, but there has to be an economical alternative to ship 2 bolts and nuts to my door.

I’m in the process of swapping some out some old KW v3s for some new Ohlins.

The problem is, I got the car used, and KW bolts are different.

Since these factory eccentric bolts above you can flip in or out for -1 degree or -2 degrees camber, what would happen to the camber if you put a normal full sized bolt like the bottom one in there?

Would the result be the midpoint at -1.5 degrees? I’m not against going this route since the Ohlins have camber plates for greater adjustment up top.

Thanks for any help in advance.

The upper bolt has the eccentric washer built into the bolt head & it rides on a tab on the stock strut in order to make the camber adjustment

The Ohlins have a similar shoulder milled out in the lower body (see below) for that same camber adjustment

Pretty sure running a lower non camber bolt in the upper hole could potentially allow the lower mount to move in the slotted hole & throw off the camber

I haven't messed w/my suspension in years but pretty sure that special upper shouldered bolt is needed!

Joe, I tested last night after we talked and you’re 100% right.
I think I’m just going to have to cowboy up and buy the expensive bolts and nuts.

Thanks so much for all the help.

Surely you need some floor mats or something? A $60 order can always become a $600 order if you put your mind to it.

I've made 3 STM orders over the past few months, each over $100. Nuts, bolts, clips, hoses, grommets, screws, and I already have another shopping cart ready to go. It just doesn't end.

yup theres plenty "maintenance little things" to buy on STM
I also just use regular camber bolts these days. seem to work fine in 3 types of coilovers that I've had. these give more camber adjustment

The various dealer run websites usually come in much cheaper than STM for available OEM parts.

If you want to spend a little more to help support a business that caters to our community I can totally understand that, but there are cheaper options (usually).
