Rim balancing weights taking chunks out of rim?

This is for Evo owners using the stock rims and the clamp on balancing wieghts.

When you got new tires put on your stock rims, where there huge chunks taken out of the edge of the rim where the old weights were? All four of my rims have this now, and I had to fight tooth and nail to get Mitsu to repair them.

I also had them rebalance them using the tape weights on the inside of the rim.

If everyone has this when they get new tires put on, I can't belive that Mitsu thinks thats acceptable. Eventually the entire rim edge would be chewed up.

yep mine were like that from the factory or dealership, never noticed until the weights were pulled off though, I was pretty shocked but was pretty sure there was no way mitsu was going to help me out.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Complain, and complain some more. I got all four rims repaired. But it did take quite some effort.

if it's not too bad they will just paint and reseal it with clearcoat

if it's bad they will have to put some material on, then radius the lip again then paint
