FINALLY, A proper Alignment

SO like a couple of months ago I got Tien H tech springs and then an alignment. It was that new Laser crap, front camber was only set to .7 and the rear he had stated @ 1.0, 0 tow across the board.

Today I bring it to a different shop that allows whatever I want set. Turns out my previous settings were, get this .6 and .5 in the frontcamber. REAR CAMBER was 1.7 and 1.8. and some funky toe. Car is now set @ 1.7-1.8 in the front. 1.0 in the rear, 0 Tow in the rear, and then I added 1/32 of Toe of front just for stability.

@ First I was like, oh **** I am gona flip my car!!! This sucks, then I started to adjust and yes my car dies pitch aggressively, it also holds aggressively. Turn in is MUCH and I mean MUCH better, the rear certainly will come out easier, but only if I ask, car is planted, I took a blind down hill decreasing radius turn sweep rated @ 25MPH @ 65, took it like a champ and asked for more. I am learning to trust the car and using the gas to save me. Seriously my car is too fast now and with this new found handling I am sure to either get arrested or die, oh well, Nice knowing you guys, feels like I have a new car today.

What are you seetings BTW, lets compair notes..

Current Alignment Settings...

Front Camber is 1.7-1.8
Toe is 1/32 for each Front wheel
Rear Camber Is 1.0 Camber for both
Toe is ZERO!!!!!!

I have a similar alignment and have been very happy with it. More important question; can people not spell correctly?

My settings have proven to be really good for tight canyon and mountain roads. A bit of understeer in sweepers and high speed turns. Very predictable behaviour with a healthy dose of throttle-off oversteer.

Front: -2.2 degrees Camber
0 toe

Rear: -1.5 degress Camber
1/16th inch toe out

Because I drive the canyons/mountains every day, I still wear out the shoulders before the inside of the tires.

Ditto. Same specs here. I might have slightly less camber and actually some toe out in the rear.

With a stock suspension and Toyo R1s (at stock pressure), the turn in response is amazing. The rear end rotates out very nicely and very predictably when the throttle is lifted, even when going around "jug handle" offramps at 50mph. I love it.

WOW, I just got my car running like this today. IT feels like the car rolls, but it just sticks regardless of what the Evo is doing. Very different beast now, I just have to learn to trust my car, I am OVERLY carful, and actually do my best driving while in pursuit of say a Vette or a fast car, I KNOW my car handles better, and Ii just do what he does, only faster and faster. But By myself I always feel like my car will spin out, but I have never come close, I am crazy I guess.

Currently running about -2.9 degrees front camber, -2.0 degrees rear camber, 0 rear toe, and about 1mm front toe-in.

On stock suspension I was running about -1.7 degrees front camber, -1.5 degrees rear camber, same toe as above.

WOW, keep the info comming, what about some minimal toe? Like 1/32 in the front to keep it from being unstable?

OK, these settings won't apply to anyone without coilovers, and are set way out there. This set-up was used for a track with lots of high speed corners (80 to 130+ mph) and resulted in even wear across a set of RA-1s (R compounds). I wasn't able to get inside and outside temps, so I can't verify they were completely right, but they were recommended by an experienced semi-pro racer and a shop owner who also races at that track.

-4 camber front, -2.5 camber rear

The car was awsome at speed and stayed completly planted through the corners. The handeling was completely neutral throughout all the corners. The only suspension mod on my car is JIC coilovers with lots of tuning and a proper cornerweighting. The car does have some added power.

When I first put the coilovers in, I was running about -2 front -1.5 rear. The car was understeering on corner exits, and I could induce oversteer on slow corners and understeer on fast ones with the throttle. The tires also went greasy quickly and showed severe wear on the outside edges. I didn't like these settings at all.

I'm thinking of trying some less aggressive camber settings, perhaps -3 front -1.5 rear. The car is amazing now in the corners, though; I'll have to see how it feels with the new settings.

Toe for all the listed setting has been 0 degrees front and rear.

Front -1.5
Caster 3.5
Toe -.07

Rear -1.2
toe .20

Fierce turn in, less push, better grip, signif wear on inside of passenger rear tire, all other wear fine.
